“Afraid! No! Do Not Be!”

‘But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.’ Matthew 14:30

The reason Peter began to sink was because of his fear. In verse 31 Jesus used the word ‘doubt’ in reference to Peter’s fear. Fear is simply negative faith or faith in reverse. Where did this fear come from? 2 Timothy 1:7 says, ‘For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.’ It’s a gift but, It didn’t come from God. This fear was able to come upon Peter because he took his attention off of Jesus and put it on his situation.

Fear or doubt cannot ‘just overcome’ us. We have to let it in. If Peter had kept his attention on Jesus, the author and finisher of his faith, Hebrews 12:2, he wouldn’t have feared. In the same way that faith comes by hearing the Word of God, Romans 10:17, fear comes by hearing or seeing something contrary to God’s Word. We would not be tempted with fear or doubt if we didn’t consider things that Satan uses to minister fear and doubt. The wind and waves didn’t really have anything to do with Peter walking on the water.

He couldn’t have walked on the water apart from Jesus even if it had been calm. The circumstances simply took Peter’s attention off of his Master and led him back into carnal thinking. Likewise, Satan tries to distract us with thinking about our problems. Peter’s faith didn’t fail him all at once, as can be seen by the fact that he only ‘began’ to sink.

If there had been no faith present, he would have sunk all at once and not gradually. This illustrates that the entrance of fear and the exit of faith do not happen instantly. There are always signs that this is happening. If we will turn our attention back to Jesus, as Peter did, He will save us from drowning. No problem is too big for God. We should cast our care about the problem over on God and just keep our eyes on Jesus, the Word.

Petition.

Father! They focus on you and will not sink. Liberate them in knowledge that they should not lose their gaze at you. Holy Ghost you guide them steady! Lord Jesus! They see and hear you l, the author and perfecter of their convictions. Thank you! Amen!

What He Says

About: The Holy Spirit

“He Is Another Comforter “

‘And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever. ‘ John 14:16

Comment:

The Holy Spirit is another comforter. Another here in the Greek as used is the word ‘allos’. ‘Allos’ means a different entity but of the same kind and typology. So, the Holy Spirit is a different individual, but if the same nature and constitution as Jesus!

Comforter in the Greek is the word ‘paraklētos’ which means, one summoned, called to another’s side, especially called to aid another. It also means one who pleads another’s cause with another; an intercessor. In addition, it means a helper, succourer, and aider. So, as Jesus was all these, so, is the Holy Spirit.

Verdict:

‘The HOLY SPIRIT Helper, Advocate, Intercessor As Standby In The Same Way As Jesus Was ‘

Confessing The Name of God

“Father! You Gave Some “

Father! You gave some, apostles. Some, prophets. Some, evangelists! Some pastors. Some teachers. For the perfecting of the saints. For the work of the ministry. For the edifying of the body of Christ. Till we all come in the unity of the faith.  And of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man.

Father! Till I come unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro. That we be no more carried about with every wind of doctrine. Not by the sleight of men. Not by  the cunning craftiness. But I speak the truth in love, that I may grow up into him in all things. He is the glory which is the head, even Christ.

Father! Every man has received the gift.  In the same manner, I minister the same one to another. I am a good steward of the manifold grace of God. If I speak, I speak as the oracles of God. if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives. God in all things may be glorified through.

Commitment statement;

‘ Father! You gave some men apostles, teachers, prophets, and such like! I received them! Amen!
